What others say

I just wanted to thank you so much for being there for me, and for well and truly fighting my corner these past 2 days. I still need to take time to process the outcome, but I needed to let you know how grateful I am and how lucky I feel to have had you sat in front of me. Thank you.

S (a mother after a fact finding hearing)

Rachel is a formidable advocate – firm but fair and her extensive preparation means that she is always ready for whatever trajectory the hearing takes. Whilst unrelenting in her pursuit of the best outcome of the hearing, I have witnessed first-hand the adaptable approach Rachel has in dealing with different clients, and her experience of dealing with vulnerable parties is self-evident and of huge advantage in progressing cases. I am unequivocal in my recommendation of Rachel to clients and colleagues alike as a fantastic barrister.

JY (Instructing Solicitor)

Profile

Rachel qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2009 and was awarded Higher Rights of Audience (Civil) a year later before coming to the Bar in 2022.

Rachel has practised law in the Plymouth area since qualifying at a local firm of solicitors in 2009. Rachel has experience of civil and all areas of family law and now specialises exclusively in family law, children proceedings.

Rachel has experience of dealing with children cases involving vulnerable clients and believes it’s important to combine expertise, professionalism and sensitivity at what can be a very difficult time for clients. She has undertaken the Inns of Court College of Advocacy Advocacy for Vulnerable People and Children course.

Rachel represents parents, children, local authorities and family members such as grandparents and has experience of cases involving the appointment of a Children’s Guardian under Rule 16.4.

Rachel regularly represents parties in cases involving domestic abuse including fact finding hearings involving serious allegations of physical and sexual abuse.

Due to her experience as a solicitor prior to joining the Bar Rachel has a detailed understanding of what is involved in the day to day running of a case and can therefore, be of additional assistance to the solicitors who instruct her.

Rachel is authorised to undertake work in accordance with the Public Access Scheme, which means that members of the public can instruct Rachel directly and Rachel draws on her experience as a solicitor when advising clients in this capacity.

Rachel is regulated by the Bar Standards Board.
