As a former solicitor Ian is acutely alive to the demands placed upon the professional client, and strives to provide a level of service that alleviates some of the those pressures. Ian maintains a mixed practice across family, civil and regulatory areas of law.
Family
Ian has developed a busy private and public children law family practice. Ian is regularly instructed by parents, guardians and local authorities at all stages of proceedings; from first to final hearing.
Ian is frequently instructed in complex intractable disputes over children and multi-day fact find hearings involving allegations of domestic abuse, sexual assaults, controlling and coercive behaviour and emotional abuse, and parental alienation. Ian also accepts instructions in cases involving, removal of PR /declarations of parentage, family law act injunctions, non-molestation and occupation orders, child arrangements and section 8 children act applications, care and supervision orders, deprivation of liberty orders, FGM and forced marriage protection orders.
Regulatory Crime
Prior to joining the Bar, Ian worked as a solicitor in-house for Devon and Cornwall Police and Dorset Police, managing a large and varied case load covering a range of public and regulatory law matters including POCA and forfeiture hearings, firearms and liquor licensing, inquests, police misconduct tribunals and data protection matters.
Civil
Ian regularly accepts instructions relating to housing and possession hearings, injunctions, multi, fast and small claims track trials and disposal hearings, CCMC and interim application hearings.
