Matthew is a pupil barrister currently in his second six, undertaking the practising period of his Common Law pupillage under the supervision of Scott Horner.
Originally from Devon, Matthew studied Law at Swansea University, before completing the Barrister Training Course (BTC) alongside an LLM at BPP University (Holborn). During his studies, Matthew was awarded an Advocacy Scholarship and achieved a Distinction. During pupillage, he was further awarded the Ann Goddard Scholarship by Gray’s Inn. Prior to pupillage, Matthew worked as a paralegal in a leading criminal defence firm, giving him a solid grounding in working within the legal system.
During his first six, Matthew gained experience across a broad range of practice areas. He has observed civil matters across the small claims track, fast track, and intermediate track. He has also observed all areas of family law, including matrimonial finance proceedings, as well as private law and public law proceedings under the supervision of Rachel Eyre. Matthew also observed a large variety of criminal cases and is a Grade 1 CPS Prosecutor.
Matthew is now accepting instructions in all areas of Chambers’ practice.
