Devon Chambers' Deputy Head of Chambers attends the International Symposium and Broadcast on Safeguarding Vulnerable Children and Adults

Rupert Taylor attended the annual International Professional Symposium and Broadcast on Safeguarding Vulnerable Children and Adults on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 May 2014.

The event, held at Bucks New University in High Wycombe, centred on elder abuse and the forthcoming Care Bill. A very informative presentation on Safeguarding was given by Kirklees Council. Also of particular interest was the postgraduate research by Sarah Finlay on the issue of (mental) capacity of older patients within the care system.

Rupert came away from the event with a DVD produced by the Kirklees Safeguarding Adults Board containing several short stories. The stories are designed to raise the profile of preventing abuse and neglect and we would hope to show these at a relevant seminar in the near future.
