Sarah Vince accepts tenancy with Devon Chambers following the successful completion of her pupillage.

Sarah Vince has become the newest tenant to join Devon Chambers after successfully completing her Pupillage in April 2012. Sarah is accepting instructions in all areas of common law and is especially keen to receive instructions in crime and regulatory crime.

 

Man sentenced to seven years for burglary with a knife.

A man with an "appalling record" for burglary was yesterday sentenced to 7 years in prison following the 3 strikes rule further details of which can be found here. Julia Cox represented the prosecution in the trial and sentence of this matter.

 

Landmark Prosecution of Man for Murder Following his Earlier Conviction for GBH

On 6th March 2012 a man from Cornwall was convicted of murder. The Defendant had previously been convicted of Grevious Bodily Harm but following the victims subsequent death and in light of the abolition of the year and a day rule it was possible to bring a further charge of murder, of which he was convicted. Robert Linford appeared on behalf of the Prosecution in this matter and further details of the case in a press report can be found here.

 

St Austell Man Acquitted of Gangster Style Murder

In a recent high profile case in the Truro Crown Court a St Austell man who was represented by Geoffrey Mercer QC and Robert Linford was acquitted of murder. The BBC News reports of this case can be found here and here.

 

Tenant awarded substantial damages for unlawful eviction

On 12th December 2011 Yeovil County Court awarded a tenant damages of £23,950 for unlawful eviction from her assured shorthold tenancy home. This award included both aggravated and exemplary damages. The tenant was represented by Russell James from Chambers.
