Garth Richardson has lengthy experience in the following type of cases:-

Serious violence and sexual abuse.

Supply of Class A and Class B drugs.

Serious thefts and deceptions

Cases involving severe mental illness.

He has been lead in a number of murder cases and has been a leading junior in cases invovling conspiracy to supply drugs (R v Kimber and others) and conspiracy to steal (R v Keet and others).


He has been instructed in various types of family cases over many years, representing mainly parents of children in care cases. His expertise in criminal cases has proved invaluable in family matters involving drug addiction and mental health problems, and in fact-finding hearings concerned with domestic abuse and non-accidental injury.


He has been instructed in Health and Safety, Environmental and False Imprisonment cases.


Notable Cases

He was legal advisor to the MOD in the Health and Safety prosecution resulting from an explosion during the testing of experimental weaponry at R.M.B. Poole.

He was the first barrister on the Western Circuit to be instructed by the Court service to cross-examine a complainant when the defendant was representing himself.

He appeared in a series of drugs supply trials at Southampton CC which were the result of the police operation Trojan. 

R v Keet and others - leading junior prosecution in a large scale horse stealing throughout the Home Counties. 

R v Kimber and Others - leading junior defence counsel in conspiracy to import cannabis from Spain in HGVs

R v Sargent - defence junior representing a violent schizophrenic defendant charged with murder who would only converse with him.


In addition, he is qualified and licensed to provide direct access to the public in civil and family cases and has built a reputation for sympathetic assisting of clients in order to present their own cases.
